Services to the Community:

The American Moslem Society through its administration, the Imam, and committees provide the community with many vital services. Some of these services are:

  • Islamic Marriage Contracts
    Many families come to the American Moslem Society to issue them an Islamic marriage contract.
      • Bring Marriage License from the City of Detroit, you need to take the following:
        • Birth Certificate
        • IDs
      • If any of the applicants’ age is less than 18 years, one of the parents need to be present
      • Bring the required documents and come to the Imam of the Masjid to issue the Islamic contract
  • Counseling and Guidance to Families
    The American Moslem Society, through the Imam, provides counseling and advice to families, which come to the mosque to seek help to cope with their problems. The AMS’s Imam helps resolve all kind of family related problems, such as marriage, divorces, and other types of conflicts.
  • Funeral Services
    The American Moslem Society hast two private sections in two different cemeteries in the area to accommodate funeral services.
      • Call the Mosque at 313-849-4416 to pay for the grave’s fee
      • Call the funeral home to arrange and pay for the services provided by the funeral  home
      • Call the Woodmere Cemetery at 313-841-0188 to pay fees related to services related to services provided by the cemetery
  • Accommodations
    The AMS issues several types of letters to all different governmental agencies, and companies to help Muslims accommodate their religion’s instructions. Examples of these letters are :
    • Letters explaining the importance of Hijab (veil) to Muslim women
    • Letters clarifying Islamic instructions regarding swimming and sports to schools
    • Letters to hospitals, and jails explaining the forbidden type of food for Muslims
    • Excuse to attend Eid and Friday prayers
    • Excuse because of relatives' burial
