The American Moslem Society (AMS) Outreach Committee was established in 2004 for the sole purpose of conveying the message of Islam to non-Moslems.  We strive to spread awareness about the true message that Islam has brought to the world by reconciling false misconceptions about Islam and Moslems, alike.  To accomplish this task, we have a range of activities from open houses, lectures, and seminars, to seasonal activities such as Humanity Day in Ramadan (the month of fasting) and Family Hajj Day during the time of the Moslem pilgrimage to the sacred city of Mecca. Since the committee was established, we have received thousands of guests, some come individually and others as groups.  We have done our best to educate and distribute educational material about Islam and Moslems.

Another objective of the committee is to work toward strengthening the ties between the Moslem community and our non-Moslem neighbors. The third objective of the Outreach Committee is to foster a healthy understanding of Islam in new Moslems so that they may be productive in their faith and in their communities. Our activities are not limited to newcomers to the faith, but they extend to life-time Moslems who want to learn more about their faith. We hold workshops on various topics including Ramadan, Hajj (pilgrimage) and da'wah (propagation of faith) to quench the thirst of knowledge sought by many Moslems.
